The Almhotel Kärnten is located at 1,500 meters above sea level, at Nassfeld in Carinthia, Austria's southernmost province.
It is nestled in alpine meadows at the foot of the striking Gartnerkofel (2,195 m), near the Nassfeld Pass, in the immediate vicinity of Italy.

From eastern Austria:
Villach towards Italy (A2 Südautobahn) - exit Hermagor/Gailtal (immediately after the Südrast rest stop, near Arnoldstein) - B 111 via Nötsch to Hermagor and on towards Kötschach Mauthen - turn off at Nassfeld Pass. 100 m after the Gartnerkofelbahn valley station, take the first ascent on the left - signpost: Gartnerkofelweg - "Almhotel Kärnten".
From Germany:
Munich - Salzburg - Tauernautobahn (A 10) towards Villach. Take the Feistritz/Drau exit in the direction of Hermagor. After the town of Hermagor, head towards Kötschach Mauthen - turn off at Nassfeld Pass. 100 m after the Gartnerkofelbahn valley station, take the first ascent on the left - signpost: Gartnerkofelweg - "Almhotel Kärnten".
From Italy:
Udine - Pontebba - Nassfeld Pass junction. 100 m before the Gartnerkofelbahn valley station, first ascent on the right - signpost: Gartnerkofelweg - "Almhotel Kärnten"
From western Austria:
Felbertauernstraße or Pustertalerstraße towards Lienz, drive through the town of Lienz towards Carinthia, in Oberdrauburg turn right towards Hermagor on the B110 Gailbergstraße, in Kötschach turn left towards Hermagor on the B111 Gailtalstraße until the Nassfeld Pass junction. 100 m after the Gartnerkofelbahn valley station, take the first driveway on the left - signpost: Gartnerkofelweg - "Almhotel Kärnten"

Your car should definitely be equipped with winter tires for the trip to us on the Nassfeld!
From November 1 to April 15, winter tires are mandatory in Austria in winter driving conditions.
With snow chains in the trunk, you are well prepared for all eventualities.
