Our best hut tips

An enjoyable stop at a mountain hut is simply part of a day's skiing. Here at Nassfeld there are around two dozen inviting huts and mountain restaurants. We would like to introduce you to four of them in particular, all located directly on the ski slopes near the hotel:

The Watschiger Alm at the foot of the Gartnerkofel.
The Berghex is the highest bar in Nassfeld.
The Garnitzenalm as a sunshine hit all day long.
And the snowman, the meeting point at the Gartnerkofelbahn valley station.

Rustic hut & sunny terrace

Located at the foot of the Gartnerkofel, the Watschiger Alm promises rustic alpine hut enjoyment indoors and a large sunny terrace outdoors. Delicious regional dishes and drinks from the Gailtal and Carinthia are served, such as
- Watschiger Almkäse soup,
- Hütten Cordon Bleu, filled with Gailtaler Almkäse and Gailtaler Speck,
- Kaiserschmarrn served in a pan and much more.
One of the highlights is the Alm beer, which is brewed especially for the Watschiger Alm by the Schleppe brewery.

To the mountain witch

The highest bar in Nassfeld promises 360-degree panoramic views in a super-sunny location, making it a unique meeting place in the sun.
With a view of Nassfeld and the imposing mountains all around, you can enjoy delicious drinks and fine coffee specialties. But also specialty drinks such as the "Geile Hex", Lumumba (cocoa) with rum or amaretto and much more.
The best pretzels on the mountain are available for a quick snack.

Hut meeting with morning sun

As a casual ski hut meeting point with sunshine from early in the morning, the Garnitzenalm is ideal for a breakfast of cappuccino and Gailtal bacon bread at the start of the ski day. It is equally popular throughout the day as a casual meeting place with 70s to 90s music.
Delicious: the hut soup (peas, potatoes, sausages), the hut burger and the cheese spaetzle in a pancake. Sweet & good: the three kinds of curd cheese dumplings.
An insider tip as a "ski nightcap" before the descent into the valley is the Bombardino (hot egg liqueur with whipped cream).

In-between & after-meeting

The snowman at the valley station of the Gartnerkofel cable car is ideal for a quick cappuccino in the morning.
It is a popular meeting place all day long, even for non-skiers.
The coffee is delicious and the various hot dog options are always worth a visit. The "Schneemann" (hot plum liqueur with fresh shortbread and whipped cream) is a great drink.

Cozy stop-off right on the slopes

The à la carte restaurant in the Almhotel directly on the piste is open daily (11.30 am - 4 pm) and offers an inviting alternative to the classic hut stop-off.
Delicacies freshly prepared in the hotel kitchen are served indoors and on the sheltered sun terrace.
That's how cozy, fast and delicious a culinary stopover during a day's skiing can be!
